My best friend of 15-odd years is expecting! Little Samuel Joseph is due at the end of June and I'm so excited for Natalie and Ben to be parents. They will be amazing. I was so grateful to be able to have my first maternity shoot with Natalie before I left for my study abroad. I think it turned out really well - she's a wonderful model!

Impromptu Portrait - Carolyn
While stopped in the Wyview parking lot to shoot a rainbow, I realized the lighting was gorgeous. I was lucky to have Carolyn around who humored me with a spontaneous photo shoot in the parking lot.

Portrait - Natalie
I first met Natalie a year and a half ago in a Korean 101 course at BYU. She's planning in majoring in a program that allows her to utilize her Korean and/or Chinese language skills - I am all for a beautiful girl with Asian pride! I still think she can pass for half Korean. Natalie is also involved in dance at BYU, and is a member of the hip-hop group Club Style. I was grateful for the opportunity to use her as a model. It was a pretty cold day, so we were forced indoors for the majority of the shoot. Thanks for a great time, Natalie!

Portrait - Daphna
This was a short shoot several months in the making. I first met Daphna in my freshman ward two years ago; she's sweet, insightful, ambitious and easy going all rolled into one amazing young woman. Thank you for being my model! Here are a few frames from the other day:

Photo Walk - Campus
My friend left several days ago to work in NM all summer; just before the Spring term started, he asked if I would take some photos of campus to show his coworkers how pretty campus is. BYU really is pretty in the spring.

Photo Walk - Duck Pond
My friend Carolyn is enrolled this block in a introduction to photography course at BYU, and is allowing me to partake of the benefits of the class by sharing what she's learned and her assignments. So this weekend we walked along the parkway by the Provo River for her to get some shots. I had to use her dad's old film camera to entertain myself, seeing as I had forgotten to put the battery in my own camera. After we came back for my battery we went up the street to the pond south of campus. Carolyn didn't want to shoot the ducks (we saw several other girls from the class crouching around the pond with cameras pressed to their faces) but I endured the frustration of trying to catch those moments when the ducks weren't just amiably floating along. And when the ducks proved too docile, I turned to what I love most - plants. I was thoroughly amused to see a quiet and unassuming tree carved extensively with the names of lovers past, which wasn't surprising on BYU campus. One carving had two initials added together, "4 T+E" (time and eternity). Awww...!

Engagement - Andy & Jessica
This weekend I had the pleasure of taking Andy and Jessica's engagement photos. Jessica was one of my roommates freshman year. They are to be married in January at the Mt. Timpanogos temple. Despite the cold and the lack of vegetation, it was a beautiful day and the fallen leaves made for some fun photos.
